Purchased for grandsons- ages 5 & 3. They love them and they handle well. I would suggest that you under inflate the ball for their first time- as the ball is really hard and it hurts if it hits their hands or heads!!! Then fully inflate as they get accustom to the pressure.

Something different for the yet-to-be-born basketball player! My niece and her husband are expecting their first child, a boy. They are both avid athletes and he is a basketball coach...bet they don't get duplicate gifts on this one! The bright colors are great for youngsters. Since it is a gift, I haven't used it; I have not reason to believe it will anything but great.
